Two from Shrewsbury Make Coastal Carolina University's Dean's List

Two Shrewsbury residents earned the grades.

Coastal Carolina University has released names of students who earned the Dean's List status for the Spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.

Michaela Harringtonm a sophomore Marine Science, Spanish major and Ellen McCarthy, a senior Accounting major, both from Shrewsbury, made the list.

Coastal Carolina University is a dynamic, public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, just minutes from the resort area of Myrtle Beach, S.C. The University offers 65 areas of study toward the baccalaureate degree and seven master's degree programs in accountancy, business administration, education, marine and wetland studies, and writing. Ten new undergraduate degree programs include biochemistry, economics, graphic design, information systems, intelligence and national security, musical theatre, theatre arts, as well as criminology, health and aging, and social justice tracks in sociology.

Coastal Carolina University was founded in 1954 as Coastal Carolina Junior College and became an independent state university in 1993.
