Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Gets Probation

The pharmacy technician was responsible for stealing more than 1,000 pills at Shrewsbury pharmacy.

WESTBOROUGH—Brandon J. Zarr, 25, of 47 Greenfield St., Worcester, was sentenced in Westborough District Court yesterday.

Zarr, who was a pharmacy technician at  in Shrewsbury, was sentenced to probation for two years after stealing or getting others to give him more than 1,000 pills including Hydrocodone, according to a police report.

In addition to the Hydrocodone, Zarr also stole Alprazolam, Clonazepum and Diazepan during a six-month time prior to Nov. 10, 2010, according to police.

He was also ordered to pay $1,883 in restitution.

In an unrelated case, Zarr was also sentenced to probation for a Nov. 17, 2010 arrest in Shrewsbury. He was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, second offense, operating a motor vehicle without a license, a marked lanes violation, failure to keep right and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Zarr was found guilty of the drug charge and was given probation for two years. He lost his license for two years and was ordered to attend a 14-day, in-patient drug rehabilitation program and pay $450 in fees.

He was found not responsible for the marked lanes violation and failure to keep right charges. Zarr was also found not responsible for the operating without a license and the negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
