• Western Mass. residents urge Healey to intervene in Eversource plan (recorder.com) — Shutesbury is one of 11 communities that could see extensive tree clearing along Eversource transmission lines, prompting local advocates to ask Gov. Maura Healey to step in. A Shutesbury Planning Board member says a final environmental impact report is expected later this year, which will clarify whether the utility has altered its plans. Residents are pushing for selective cutting instead of what they describe as clear-cutting. 
• Quabbin communities balk at open-ended water draw proposal (sentinelandenterprise.com) — Shutesbury’s town administrator and land use clerk were among Quabbin-region voices urging the state Water Resources Commission to reject an open-ended plan for withdrawing 20 million extra gallons a day from the Quabbin system. They argued the proposal violates the spirit of state law by not identifying which communities would receive the water or why it’s needed. A draft decision and another public hearing are expected later this year.
