📰 News we're reading

• Four arrested in scrap metal theft in Somerset (newportdispatch.com) — Somerset police arrested four Fall River residents this week after spotting a truck linked to repeated scrap metal thefts at the former Montaup Power Plant, and say a fifth person will also be charged. Officers intercepted suspects both at the plant and on Riverside Avenue, noting some already had active warrants, and are now pursuing additional charges tied to the ongoing thefts.

• High school roundup/scores: Jason Bilo fires perfect game in Chelmsford shutout (bostonherald.com) — Somerset Berkley boys lacrosse took a tough 18-2 loss to Apponequet in South Coast Conference play, with Apponequet’s Joe Procaccini piling up seven points. The roundup also highlights strong performances from nearby schools like Dighton-Rehoboth, Seekonk, and West Bridgewater across baseball, lacrosse, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball.

• Whale-watch boat Emerald Clipper delivered (workboat.com) — A well-known Somerset, Mass., shipyard gets a nod as the aging San Juan Clipper it built in 1990 is finally being replaced on Seattle’s whale-watch routes. The new Emerald Clipper, a faster, quieter catamaran, will handle up to two daily trips while offering passengers expansive viewing decks, modern comforts, and a lower-emission ride through Puget Sound and the Salish Sea.
