15 Vendors Slated For Somerville 'Ignite' Festival

The Aug. 19 festival brings together a flurry of global cuisines from 15 area food vendors and features activities and performances.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Celebrating Union Square's global food landscape, this year's Ignite: A Global Street Food & Fire Festival brings together 15 area food vendors for an evening of international eats, fire throwers and entertainment. Ignite will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 from 6-10 p.m. in Union Square Plaza.

Beyond the food demos, activities and "Nose Olympics," the festival features an all-female Chinese lion dance troupe, fire dancing from the Boston Circus Guild and dance performances from the Argentinian tango to the Indian Bhangra. There will also be craft vendors, a mime, the Fine Art Superheroes and music.

Ignite will host a food drive for the Somerville Homeless Coalition. It's easy to help out – just bring a can or two of food to the festival.
