2 Planned Recreational Pot Shops Get Licenses In Somerville

One of the shops could open within the next six months.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Licensing Commission approved licenses for two planned recreational marijuana shops Monday, according to the Somerville Journal. Union Leaf, opening at 71-72 Union Square, and NorthEast Select Harvest, opening at 378-380 Highland Ave., received licenses for by-appointment-only retail for the first six months of business.

Union Leaf's opening is still a ways off, as its plan involves additional construction, the Journal reported. NorthEast Select Harvest, however, could open within the next six months.

A third proposed recreational marijuana shop, East Remedies, sought a continuance to hold a second community meeting and complete a traffic study.
