30 Massachusetts Companies Make Fortune 500 List

How much did these Bay State companies rake in last fiscal year?

Fortune Magazine has announced its Fortune 500 list for 2017, and Massachusetts remains highly competitive, with 30 businesses making the cut. Companies are ranked by total revenues, and topping the list nationally is Walmart, followed by Berkshire Hathaway and Apple. Boston relative newcomer General Electric came in at 13th overall, boasting a $126,661 million year in 2016.

This is the 63rd year the magazine has published its annual list. While 15 companies dropped off the list, there were 20 newcomers, including Elon Musk’s electric car company, Tesla. Other than clearing the bar of at least $5.1 billion in annual revenue, Fortune explains how newcomers make it on the list.

This year also includes 32 female CEOs, which Fortune says is the highest number of female CEOs to ever make the list.
