ARLINGTON, MA — Treating moms to brunch or dinner is one of the top ways to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10, but to do that, you’ll need to make reservations now at Somerville restaurants.

The National Retail Federation said its annual Mother’s Day survey shows 63 percent of respondents plan a special outing like dinner or brunch for Mother’s Day. Behind flowers and greeting cards, a meal out is the third-most popular way to celebrate the holiday.

Americans are projected to spend approximately $6.4 billion on special outings and meals this year, a figure surpassed only by the $7.5 billion expected expenditure on jewelry, according to the survey.
