Farmers Market Now Open At Assembly Row In Somerville

SOMERVILLE, MA — Assembly Row has opened its first-ever farmers' market in Somerville.

The new open-air market is located between Shake Shack and Tatte Bakery + Café and features about 30 vendor stalls selling fresh produce, baked goods, dairy, eggs, frozen fish, locally sourced meats, mushrooms, and other seasonal products. Vendors are expected to rotate throughout the season.

The market held its grand opening on Friday, June 12, with a 3 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials, including Somerville Mayor Jake Wilson. Wilson helped kick off the event with remarks before joining the ribbon-cutting and sampling a homemade popsicle from one of the vendors.

Organizers say the market is intended to bring a new weekly destination for fresh, locally sourced food to Assembly Row and the surrounding neighborhood.

The farmers market will run Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. through October, with the exception of Friday, July 3. Admission is free and open to the public.

The market is part of Assembly Row’s broader summer programming lineup, which also includes Yoga in the Park, BWM Makers Markets, Bar Stars and the annual Riverfest block party.
