Home Hospital Clinicians Protest Outside MGB Headquarters In Somerville: Report
The demonstration took place outside MGB's Assembly Row headquarters.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Clinicians with Mass General Brigham's Home Hospital program protested outside the healthcare system’s Somerville headquarters on Thursday as contract negotiations continued between management and workers represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, according to a report from PR Newswire.
The demonstration took place outside MGB's Assembly Row headquarters on 399 Revolution Drive after a bargaining session earlier in the day. Clinicians held signs with messages including "Patients over Profits" and "Safety over Census" as they pushed for a first union contract.
Workers said they are seeking stronger patient-care protections, reasonable workloads, clear productivity standards, competitive wages and measures to improve recruitment and retention. The bargaining unit includes nurses, therapists, social workers and other healthcare professionals who provide hospital-level care to patients in their homes.

According to the union, clinicians have raised concerns that MGB is expanding the Home Hospital program too quickly and prioritizing patient census growth over patient and staff safety. Workers said they routinely encounter unsafe home conditions and have called for more comprehensive home safety inspections.
Union representatives argued that staffing and workload concerns can affect patient care while also making it harder to retain experienced clinicians. The Massachusetts Nurses Association said workers have been negotiating with Mass General Brigham for more than a year in pursuit of a first contract.
