Beacon Street To Close In Somerville Sunday
A section of Beacon Street will close for paving work this weekend.

SOMERVILLE, MA — MassDOT will close part of Beacon Street Sunday afternoon for paving work, the agency announced Friday. Beacon will shut down between Park Street and Washington Street in Somerville from 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 through 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26.
The following detours will be in place during this time:
- Northbound vehicles will be detoured along Cambridge Avenue, Quincy Street, Kirkland Street and Oxford Street.
- Southbound vehicles will be detoured along Park Street, Somerville Avenue, Webster Avenue, Concord Avenue and Springfield Street.
This work is part of a $9.8 million project to reconstruct a section of Beacon Street from Somerville Avenue to the area of the Cambridge line.

Signs, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Drivers who are traveling through the impacted areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be impacted due to an emergency situation.
