Boston-Based Pet Food Company Opens Somerville Shop
The Spring Hill shop is Fedwell Pet Foods' first retail store.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A Boston-based online pet food service has opened a brick-and-mortar store in Somerville. Petwell Supply at 201B Highland Ave. in the Spring Hill neighborhood is an extension of Fedwell Pet Foods that carries products and services designed to support pet health ailments.
"I launched Fedwell Pet Foods because I was disheartened with the pet food options available
for my own dog, who at the time was struggling with GI issues and skin conditions related to the
traditional American pet food diet," Founder Emily Lagasse said. "Although the foods I created were a terrific, healthy foundation for our four-legged friends, there is so much more that can be done to support health
issues, and I wanted to provide access to alternative products and services to best serve pets."
Lagasse said the store will host events and classes like speed dating for dog lovers, dog and cat trivia nights and behavioral and training classes. She invites customers to recycle old pet food packaging or leave a gently used toy in the "leave a toy, take a toy" box. There will also be a seasonal photo booth for pet Polaroids.
