Ferrelli said, "Our offensive line has been impressive this year," and on top of that, "our running backs have another year of experience on them."
The result has been a powerful running game with the offensive line opening up large holes for the running backs. It's probably "the strongest offensive line we've had in some time," he said.
Ferrelli said the Militia are looking deep into the playoffs, but "you take one game at a time."
The team will play their first playoff game June 30 against the Keystone Assault or New York Sharks (who face off in the first week of playoff games on June 23).
Should the Militia make if through that playoff game, the could easily face the DC Divas again on July 7.
However, Ferrelli said, "I see Chicago being the team we have to go through to get to the finals," referring to the Chicago Force, who could potentially play the Militia on July 21 if both teams make it that far. The winner of the July 21 game will play in the championship game on Aug. 4 against a team from the American Division, comprised of teams from the western part of the country. The championship game will be held at Heinze Field in Pittsburgh, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ferrelli said of the team, "They're dedicated, they're hard working" and "we have a tremendous coaching staff."
First playoff game won't be at Dilboy
Even though the Militia's home field is Dilboy Stadium, due to a scheduling conflict, they won't play their first playoff game there on June 30. The Boston Breakers, who also play at Dilboy, have a game then.
Ferrelli said he's scrambling to find another field to hold the game.
