Boston Militia's Season Ends in Chicago

The two-time national champions of women's football will not get a three-peat.

The Boston Militia, who play home games at in Somerville, fell to the Chicago Force Saturday 35-34, ending the team's quest to win a third straight championship in the Women's Football Alliance.

The game, held in Chicago, came down to the wire, according to accounts posted on the Chicago Force Facebook page.

Based on the account, the Militia were down seven points late in the fourth quarter when they launched a dramatic drive for a touchdown.

Here's the Chicago Force Facebook description of what happened:

"It's 4th and 10 and Boston is going for it. A halfback pass play is good! Boston has 1st down at the Chicago 2. Boston runs in for the touchdown. The extra point is no good!!! The extra point is no good!!! With 1:57 left in the game and Chicago is up 35-34!!!"

After a tense final two minutes, and with the Militia out of timeouts, the Force managed to take a knee and run down the clock for the narrow victory, according to the Facebook account.

The Chicago Force will move onto the championship game against the San Diego Surge on Aug. 4 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
