Boston Militia Win Three Straight to Start Season

The women's tackle football team moves into a bye week having dominated the first part of the season.

The Boston Militia, a national-championship women's tackle football team that plays home games in Somerville, defeated the Keystone Assault 31-0 Saturday.

The Assault are from Dillsburg, Penn., outside Harrisburg.

In defeating the Assault, the Boston Militia improved their record to 3-0 as they go into a bye week.

Of the five games left in the season, two are against teams the Militia have already defeated: The New York Sharks (whom the Militia beat 64-6 in the opening game of the season) and The Philadelphia Liberty Belles (whom the Militia beat 59-0 on April 21).

The Militia have won in the Women's Football Alliance, and the for them to make it a three-peat.

The Militia's next home game is May 12 at against the Liberty Belles.

They play the DC Divas on May 19 and the Maine Lynx on June 2—both are home games.

They finish their season on the road with a game against the DC Divas on June 9 and a game against the New York Sharks on June 16

In other Militia news, Marjahna Segers, a defensive and offensive linewoman for the Militia, was inducted into the Johns Hopkins University Hall of Fame. Segers played basketball, track and volleyball at the university.

Games begin at 6 p.m. at . Tickets cost $6 for Somerville residents and for senior citizens (with ID). Regular tickets cost $12. Children 10 and under get in free.
