Brass Union & The Independent Get into the Spirit of Fluff
Union Square eateries to serve up Fluff-laced treats during the Fluff Festival on September 24

WHAT: On September 24, Brass Union and The Independent will take part in the famed Fluff Festival in Somerville’s Union Square. As part of the ArtsUnion eleventh annual street festival paying homage to the Union Square invention of Fluff, this duo of eateries will serve up marshmallow creme-laced delights celebrating this American favorite.
At Brass Union, executive chef Jonathan Kopacz will whip up sticky-sweet confections like Hand-Cut Sweet Potato Fries topped with Cabot cheddar and chorizo-Fluff ($8). On the liquid side, beverage director Paulo Pereira will shake up The Archibald – named in honor of Fluff inventor Archibald Query – with marshmallow vodka, Jägermeister, coffee liqueur and Fluff-coconut milk ($10).
Next door at The Independent, the Fluff-infused specials come threefold. The bar team has created the Fluff Life with vodka, Fluff, peanut butter and soda ($11). From the kitchen, executive chef Patrick Gilmartin will dish out Fluff Fries that are sweet potato fries topped with candied bacon and drizzled with Fluff ($8; pictured below). To satisfy the sweet tooth, there is the S’mores Parfait made with layers of Fluff ($8). As an added bonus, The Independent will turn its outdoor patio into a “canned beer garden” for the duration of Fluff Festival and into the night.
