Brass Union & The Indo Celebrate PorchFest

Union Square restaurants join Somerville Arts Council's annual outdoor music festival

On May 21, the Somerville Arts Council will host their annual outdoor music festival, PorchFest. In 2011, PorchFest was created as a decentralized community event where Somervillians could share their love of playing and listening to music while taking in the fresh spring air.

This year, notable Union Square restaurants, Brass Union and The Independent, will join in on the al fresco musical fun by hosting a set of special local talents:

Brass Union:

Brass Union will welcome Boston’s own Andrea Gillis to their dual-sided patio for an exclusive outdoor performance. Gillis is a powerhouse singer who has been a staple of the Boston music scene since 1999, singing rock, jazz and soul tunes.

8-10pm. 70 Union Square, Somerville.

The Independent:

One of Union Square’s original neighborhood favorites, The Independent will bring The B3 Kings to their scenic patio area. A three piece band known for their soul, boogaloo, funk and rock genres, these Boston natives spend their days touring New England to the delight of their fans.

6-8pm. 75 Union Square Somerville.

In the event of rain, PorchFest will take place on Sunday, May 22.
