Caffe Nero Opens At Somerville's Assembly Row

The European coffee chain held a soft opening Friday.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A London-based chain of coffee shops made landfall in Somerville Friday at Assembly Row. Caffe Nero, which has quietly been expanding into greater Boston, held a soft opening at 7 a.m. at 375 Assembly Row. The shop will be serving free coffee until 3 p.m.

Cappuccinos and lattes are just the tip of the iceberg at Caffe Nero. The shop specializes in European-style coffee drinks inspired by the Italian brewing process, such as a cortado – steamed milk and expresso with a layer of micro-foam – and a white chocolate mocha. The menu also features tea, sandwiches, pastries, salads and other coffee shop treats.

Caffe Nero, which first opened in Boston in 2014, recently brought new locations to the Boston University campus and South Boston, according to Eater.
