The Mystic Learning Center, Inc. is hosting its 16th Annual Spring for Children fundraiser on Friday May 8, 2026. Flashback Through the Decades with us for an retro-themed evening with live entertainment, nostalgic games, and fantastic raffles to support the Mystic Learning Center. MLC will also announce the 'Rising Star' award recipients. Each year, MLC Senior Staff vote for Junior Staff staff, youth, and parents who have gone above and beyond during the most recent year and honor them at the annual fundraiser. Come dressed in your favorite decade-style attire and join us for a night you will not want to miss! Celebrate the Past and Support the Future!
General Admission tickets include entrance, food, and access to the limited open bar (beer, wine, cider) plus one complementary signature cocktail ticket.

A 7 Act exploration of our relationship with technology, Nature and each other, this non-linear dystopian narrative follows Beings all the way from galactic goo to human to mostly robotic human. Become part of this feelings opera, which takes a stand through experimental puppetry, movement and sound, against the numbness epidemic on planet Earth. 
As an audience member you are invited into collective choreography and collaborative arias. Please wear all black and something you can move freely in for this emergent performance ritual. Shoes will be left to the side near the entrance. The performance is 2:22 hours with an intermission.

Set at a parole board hearing, Ted Kaczynski (aka The Unabomber) recounts his life through song in the hope of proving that he never wanted to be a monster, he only wanted to be a star. While he may have spent years sending explosives, this is one performance Ted can’t bomb.
Written and performed by John Lampe and Michael Wysong, this new musical comedy dares to ask the question no one needed an answer to: What if this notorious eco-terrorist was the next Bob Fosse?
Michael Wysong&nbsp;is a Manhattan-based musical theatre composer and lyricist who was described by Cabaret Scenes as “a wry and clever songwriter and political satirist in the tradition of Tom Lehrer…a major talent to be kept track of.” His work has been performed at cabaret venues and theatres throughout New York City, including the Triad Theatre and Feinstein’s/54 Below. Recent credits include new music for a production of Marat/Sade, music and sound design for Macbeth (New York Shakespeare Company), and music and sound design for Aunt Jack (Theater for the New City). He also wrote the book and lyrics for a new adaptation of The Revenger’s Tragedy, music and lyrics for the song cycle Love is…, and contributed a song to CHANGEMAKERS with Tony Nominated lyricist Bill Russell for their shared alma mater, The University of Kansas.
John Lampe&nbsp;is a director, writer, and performer. His work has been seen across the US and in Europe. In New York, he has worked with companies such as Urban Stages, New Circle Theatre, Frog and Peach Theatre, and ANDTheatre, where he served as Artistic Director. His two man musical comedy “The TUNEabomber” plays monthly in New York at The Reverie Room. Join All She Wrote Books on Saturday, May 9th at 10:00 am&nbsp;at Connexion United Methodist Church (149 Broadway) for a conversation with authors and illustrators Maia Kobabe &amp; Swati "Lucky" Srikumar, as they discuss their middle grade graphic novel collaboration, Opting Out, the story of a kid named Saachi who is navigating friendship woes, sister issues, a new crush, and a resistance to blue-and-pink binaries.

About The Book
From the award-winning author/illustrator of GENDER QUEER and a bright new talent. 

Bodies are the worst. I wish I didn't have a body. 
Saachi is a storyteller. At school, she's surrounded by kids she's known forever -- including her best friend, Lyla, who shares Saachi's love of fantasy novels and creating new worlds. 

But as seventh grade starts, kids are changing. Suddenly, it matters who you like and if you can find a boyfriend or girlfriend. Even Lyla seems more interested in hanging out with her new boyfriend than in writing and drawing with Saachi anymore. Saachi's not interested in any of that boy/girl stuff. 

Why can't things just stay the way they were? Saachi also doesn't love all the ways her body is changing. What if she doesn't feel like a girl -- or like a boy, either? In a world where there is so much either/or, Saachi is going to need to find her own options . . . and create her own story.

About the Creators
Maia Kobabe (e/em/eirs) is an author and illustrator from the Bay Area, California. This is eir first book for middle-grade readers. E is also the author of two books for young adults. Gender Queer: A Memoir won a Stonewall Honor and an Alex Award from the American Library Association in 2020 and was also the most challenged book in the US in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Breathe: Journeys to Healthy Binding was created with Dr. Sarah Peitzmeier. When not drawing or writing, Maia is usually listening to kpop music, practicing taekwondo, studying Spanish, or picking up books from the library.

Swati “Lucky” Srikumar (they/them/theirs) was raised as a third-culture kid born in Singapore to Indian immigrant parents. At age nineteen they moved to California, where they’ve resided ever since. They draw comics about the ever-changing aspects of their identity including queerness, race, disability, and cat ownership. They love to build community and find common ground with all kinds of people through humor and art. They enjoy knitting, bird-watching, and puns. Opting Out is their first book.
