Canine Influenza Virus, or dog flu, has been confirmed in 4 dogs in Essex County Massachusetts. The dog flu is similar to Bordatella (kennel cough), and symptoms include hacking cough, repeated throat clearing/swallowing, fever and lethargy. This is the first time the dog flu has appeared in Massachusetts outside of race tracks. If your dog exhibits any of these symptoms be sure to have him/her checked by your veterinarian.
