Carnaval in East Somerville to Feature Live Music, Food, Parade
Carnaval festivities will happen Sunday, rain or shine. The street party is from 12 to 4 p.m. There will be some road closures.

SOMERVILLE – Join the City of Somerville, East Somerville Main Streets and FossFest for “Carnaval @ SomerStreets!”on Sunday, June 3rd from noon – 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Through SomerStreets, where “roads are closed to cars and open to you!” programming will extend along Broadway from Temple Street to Pennsylvania Ave., including a motion parade stepping off from the East Somerville Library at noon, live music, “SomerPeople” multicultural celebration, food, and fun!
Carnaval @ SomerStreets is the first of five SomerStreets events, the City’s popular Open Streets Initiative, which closes sections of roadways one Sunday per month to promote and support active living – walking, biking, running, dancing, etc.

In order to ensure public safety at the event, several road closures and parking bans will be in effect, as follows:
Westbound lane from the intersection of Temple Street to McGrath Highway

- Closed to all vehicular traffic
- No parking on-street from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Residents who live on the west side of Broadway will be able to access Broadway from Fellsway West
Eastbound and westbound lanes of Broadway from McGrath Highway to Pennsylvania Avenue
- Closed to all vehicular traffic
- No parking on either side of the street from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Residents who live on the west side of Broadway will be able to enter/exit residences at Pennsylvania Avenue
- Residents who live on the east side of Broadway will be detoured onto Pearl Street
Additionally, MBTA buses along this section of Broadway will be rerouted between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Residents who live on Broadway should call (857) 523-9017 in advance or on the day of the event, and City volunteers will assist you in leaving/returning to your property safely during the event.
