Child Rape, Weapons Trafficking In Somerville Indictments: DA

SOMERVILLE, MA – Ten cases with ties to Somerville are among the latest round of indictments in Middlesex County. District Attorney Marian Ryan on Tuesday announced indictments handed down between Sept. 26 and Nov. 20.

Two cases involve Somerville residents who face charges in other towns, and eight are alleged to have occurred in Somerville:

Cambridge

Abdul Ahmed, 44, of Somerville, was charged with masked armed robbery, armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The Assistant District Attorney is Terence Kiernan.

Dracut

Balwant Sandhu, 55, of Somerville, was charged with aggravated rape of a child (3 counts), rape of a child by force (3 counts), and indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14. The Assistant District Attorney is Marisa Tagliareni.

Somerville

Douglas Brioso, 23, of Stoneham, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm, and being an armed career criminal. The Assistant District Attorney is Maren Schrader.

Rubenson Cherilus, 34, of Somerville, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, subsequent offense, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (2 counts), failure to stop for police, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officers (2 counts), and being a habitual criminal. The Assistant District Attorney is Wendi Safran.

Saint Jean Clervil, 60, of Somerville, was charged with aggravated rape of a child (2 counts), rape of a child by force (2 counts), indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 (2 counts), rape (2 counts), assault with intent to rape, and indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14 (4 counts). The Assistant District Attorney is Allison Brown.

Jean Duprelian, 55, of Somerville, was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The Assistant District Attorney is Ceara Mahoney.

Steven Guevara, 27, of Boston, was charged with trafficking over 18 grams of cocaine and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The Assistant District Attorney is Robert Meltzer.

Mark Moriarty, 30, of Boston, was charged with trafficking firearms, possession of a firearm without a license (2 counts), larceny under $1,200, and being an armed career criminal (2 counts). The Assistant District Attorney is Graham Van Epps.

Christopher Raponi, 31, of Waltham, was charged with rape. The Assistant District Attorney is Terence Kiernan.

Julio Rolon-Lopez, 38, of Somerville, was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to commit a felony, and assault with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury. The Assistant District Attorney is Ceara Mahoney.
