Drunk Man Allegedly Assaults Somerville Schoolchildren on Playground

The incident occurred Friday morning during school hours.

A 26-year-old drunk man allegedly assaulted two students Friday morning who were playing on the Albert F. Argenziano School playground, near Union Square, during school hours.

School counselors told police the man yelled profanities at one boy and aggressively grabbed his wrist and then grabbed a girl’s hair, snapping her head back. When he left the playground, he pushed and shoved multiple children out of his way, they said.

Police arrested the suspect, Juan Campos, of 182 Washington St., Somerville, at about 10:30 a.m. that morning and charged him with assault and battery (two counts), disorderly conduct and trespassing. Police found Campus sleeping under a nearby bench.
