1st Annual Healey School 3 on 3 Charity Basketball Tournament

The Arthur D. Healey Elementary School will host its first Skyline View 3-on-3 Co-ed Basketball Tournament Saturday, June 4, to benefit its fall trip to Nature’s Classroom. In case of severe rain, the tournament will be held Sunday, June 5.

There will be two separate tournaments -- an NCAA-style tournament for boys and girls in grades 4 to 8 and a high school/adult double-elimination tournament. The tournaments will be held on the outside courts behind the Healey School at 5 Meacham St. Refreshments will be for sale.

The children’s tournament is limited to the first 32 teams of up to four players, with one player being a substitute. The first game will start at 9 a.m. and the children’s tournament will end with a championship game at 11:30 a.m. Games will consist of two quarters, lasting approximately 25 minutes.

The high school/adult double-elimination tournament will begin with the first round of games between 10:30 a.m. and noon, with staggered starting times, continuing all afternoon until the championship game at 4:30 p.m. The adult tournament is also limited to the first 32 teams of four players (three players and one substitute). Tournament T-shirts will be given to all participants and prizes will go to the winning children’s team and winning high school/adult team.

Teams must register and pay a team fee. Fees for the fundraiser are tax-deductible and will be $5 per player for the children’s tournament and $60 a team for the adult tournament. To register, send your team name, team member’s names and T-shirt sizes to Jean Millette, 50 Mt. Vernon St., Somerville, 02145.
