Cast-A-Candle Workshop

Description:

In this class you'll sculpt a simple figure (animal, shape, object - your choice!) in clay and then turn it into a candle!  A bite-sized version of the 4-week Casting & Moldmaking class, this workshop will introduce you to basic casting techniques and new materials.  At the end, you'll have a custom home-made candle that you'll be able to cast over and over again!

Instructor Biography:

A native of Massachusetts, Bevan Weissman exists in duality as an artist and engineer:  trained in both disciplines, his work straddles the line between the two.  His areas of expertise include large scale installation, public art, and mixed-media sculpture; all of these have relied heavily on the inclusion of repeated and one-off castings in materials as diverse as cement, plastic, bronze, plaster, rubber, and wax -- whatever the piece needs in order to come alive.
