Everett Woman Arrested For Drugs In Somerville

Police say she couldn't remember if she was carrying cocaine or heroin, but they're pretty sure it was one of those.

According to a report from Somerville Police, Deanna Garceau, 22, of Everett, Mass., was charged with possession of a class A substance, as well as driving an uninsured, unregistered vehicle, and for outstanding traffic violations on Friday, Feb. 6.

As she drove down Washington Street in Somervile a bit before 10 a.m., police noticed Garceau’s car lacked an updated inspection sticker. Upon learning from the RMV that Garceau’s alleged prior failures to adhere to traffic laws had garnered her an outstanding warrant, police pulled her over and arrested her.

A scan of the car, police say, yielded suspicious remnants of plastic bags and drinking straws. Garceau told police that she abstained from drug use, however, a small amount of powder thought by police to be heroin was discovered folded up in a McDonalds receipt in her purse. When asked to identify the dubious powder, police say, Garceau said she couldn’t remember if it was heroin or cocaine.
