Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic coming to Boston
Coming to Cambridge in April, the amazing shadow play 'Feathers of Fire' will delight audiences of all ages!
The Harvard Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) presents Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic, a visually breathtaking cinematic shadow play for all ages, April 16 & 17 in Cambridge, MA.
"One of the great epics of all time and my favorite Shahnameh brought to life in a spectacular fashion by Hamid Rahmanian with shadow puppets design and cinematic wizardry." —Francis Ford Coppola
This action-packed performance stages the magical tale of star-crossed lovers from the 10th-century Persian epic Shahnameh (The Book of Kings). The largest shadow puppet play ever performed, Feathers of Fire features over 140 colorful shadow puppets, performers in elaborate masks and costumes, and digitally animated backgrounds, seamlessly choreographed together and projected onto a cinemascope-size screen to give the audience a feeling of “live animation.” Creator Hamid Rahmanian will speak to the audience after each show to share a “behind the scenes” glimpse of the technical aspects of the production. 70 minutes, in English.
