FIVE THINGS TO KNOW TODAY: Saturday is for Snow Monsters, and More

Wednesday's massive snowball fight at Trum Field has been rescheduled for Saturday. A reader puts out a call for a night of glowing snow monsters. And we introduce our new weekly Patch Picks best-of list.

"Hey Somerville! Saturday night is for snow monsters. Outfit your snowbanks with flashlights. Let’s light up the town!"

That’s the message we got from reader Rona Fischman, who spotted this great photo of a snowpile transformed into a glowing-eyed snow monster and got an idea. What if people all over Somerville did the same? So she’s challenging us to outfit our snowbanks with flashlights and to light up the town Saturday night at 6 p.m. All you have to do is scoop eyes and a mouth out of your snowbank and drop a flashlight in. Patch will post a gallery of photos. E-mail yours to deniset@patch.com.
