Somerville’s own chocolatier, The Chocolate Tarte is usually closed Mondays, but in the interest of Valentine’s Day, love, and chocolate addiction, they will be open today through 7 p.m. Choose from gourmet chocolates or truffles in flavors from dark and milk chocolate to champagne, rosemary or chocolate chili. Get your tickets now for the Annual Memorial Day Parade fundraiser and you’ll get a real two-for-one: a party and that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from doing something good. Live entertainment by the USO Metropolitan New York Performers and singing impressionist Joey Voices will set the scene at the Saturday March 19 benefit party at the High School. The parade takes place Sunday May 29. Party tickets are $20. Details .

The artwork of seven Somerville students won Gold or Silver Key Prizes at this year’s Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards. (Congratulations!) See their work either at the Boston Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, Feb. 14-April 7 (Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) or view it in this online slideshow along with the work of 20 honorable mention winners from Somerville. The seven winning works will advance to a national Scholastic Art Award competition.

Due to all the snowy weather, the City has extended Christmas tree disposal through February. Trees may be disposed of with your regular trash, on your normal trash day until the end of the month.
