Free on Bond, Alleged Heroin Dealer Appears in Court

Louis L. Gersh, 52, was arrested in Somerville as part of an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

A former Arlington business owner charged with possession of heroin within a school zone was back in court on Monday.

Louis L. Gersh, 52, of Medford, appeared briefly at Cambridge District Court for a pre-trial conference. The hearing was continued until Jan. 12.

Gersh, who is free after posting bail, was  for possession with intent to distribute heroin within a school zone. Police there said he was arrested as part of an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

In Arlington, police say Gersh was running an online auctioning business where he sold mostly stolen items, from musical instruments to an .

Capt. Richard Flynn, of the Arlington Police Department, has previously said the stolen items found at Gersh’s business were stolen from Medford, Somerville, Arlington and other surrounding areas.

When the items were logged in the computer, there were about 59 entries with multiple items, bringing the lump sum to more than 100 items. The items were taken to the Arlington police’s headquarters for cataloging.
