GLX Nighttime Work Announced In Somerville, Medford
Construction crews will be doing potentially noisy work at night this weekend.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Nighttime construction on the Green Line Extension project will take place along the Fitchburg and Lowell Commuter Rail lines in Somerville and Medford this weekend. Work will begin Friday evening, Sept. 6 and will continue through Sunday night, Sept. 8, with possible activity carrying over into the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 9 in some areas, according to MassDOT.
On the Lowell Line, work zones will stretch from north of College Avenue to the Ball Square/Broadway Bridge area and south to the Washington Street Bridge in East Somerville.
On the Fitchburg Line, most of the work will take place in the future Lechmere Station and Inner Belt Road area. Work will advance foundations, walls, utility work, and steel placement inside the Lowell Line MBTA right-of-way and to continue steel and concrete placement on the Fitchburg Line Viaduct.

Construction is expected to be disruptive in some areas at times. Crews will make an effort to minimize light spilling over into residential areas.
