For her first full marathon, Hilary Aberle, an after school coordinator at the Healey School in Somerville, is running the Boston Marathon® to raise money for Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP), a statewide organization fueling the movement to expand quality mentoring for youth across Massachusetts.
After having spent three years as an official charity of the B.A.A®, runners from the 2013 marathon team were invited back to run and complete their race. Team MMP’s returning runners all opted to raise funds for MMP again, and Hilary, of Gloucester, has already surpassed her goal of $1,000.
“I have seen first-hand the positive impact that mentors can have on students, and realize the impact affects both adult and child,” says Hilary on why she’s running for MMP. “Many of my students benefit from mentors, but there are others who could really use mentoring. I would love to give back in this way, and hope to help my school and community by running for MMP.”

Hilary adds that she sees mentoring at work every day.
“For a child, something as simple as listening can make all the difference. I find that I am constantly learning valuable lessons from the kids, and strive to be a positive role model for them.
