How to Get a Rain Barrel in Somerville

SOMERVILLE, MA – Rain barrels are on sale now in Somerville, courtesy of the Great American Rain Barrel Company and City of Somerville. The barrels are used to trap water and prevent it from going into the storm drain so homeowners can reuse it.

Barrels are a free, easy source of thousands of gallons of water for homeowners to use on their lawn or garden.

The Great American Rain Barrel Company recommends one barrel for every 100-square-foot garden. Barrels are sold in Forest Green, Earth Brown or Nantucket Gray and cost $79. They will be available locally for pickup on May 13 from 9-11 a.m. at the DPW, 1 Franey Road.
