ICYMI: Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival at the Somerville Theatre
Everything you need to know about America's oldest genre fest, now back for its 42nd year.
SOMERVILLE, MA – The truth is out there at the Somerville Theatre this month when the Boston Science Fiction Film Festival returns for its 42nd year.
Whether you're a casual moviegoer, film buff or diehard of all things science fiction, there's something in this 11-day cinematic event for you. The Sci-Fi Film Festival runs from Feb. 10-20 and for the first nine days consists of a traditional film festival – features, shorts, webisodes, workshops, parties or a new Hollywood film highlighting emerging directors with unique visions from around the world.
It's the final two days where the event is dialed up to 11. The festival concludes with The Marathon, known as "The 'Thon," a 24-hour "endurance test featuring classic, new and schlock films." It begins at noon on the 19th and ends at noon the following day.
