Inside Ruth's Chris, Assembly Row's Upcoming Steakhouse

Patch got a sneak peek of the chain's newest location ahead of its opening next week.

SOMERVILLE, MA — You could celebrate your opening with a ribbon cutting, but why not opt for something tastier? Ruth's Chris ushered in its newest restaurant at Assembly Row Thursday, marking the occasion by cutting into (what else?) a juicy steak. The "first taste" event had members of the Somerville City Council, Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Boston Food Bank, Ruth's Chris's charity partner, on hand.

Patch got a sneak peak of Ruth's Chris along with other members of the media. The 8,149-square-foot steak house is set to open Monday, Nov. 25, offering the New Orleans-based chain's signature steaks, array of beers, cocktails and wines and some new menu items exclusive to Assembly Row.

Rik Jenkins, vice president of operations at Ruth's Chris, told Patch he's excited to open another restaurant in a "market we feel strongly about." This will be the chain's third location, behind its steak houses in Boston and Waltham.

"Bostonians get Ruth's Chris. We're proud to support the Boston community," said Jenkins, who hinted there are other places in the area the company has its eye on. "We feel like it's a good fit for us."

The space features a main dining room and lounge that seats 179 people and two private rooms that can hold up to 62 guests. Jenkins said they also plan to add seating outside during the warmer months.
