Learn About Zero-Sort Recycling at Upcoming Meetings

On Oct. 10, residents in Somerville will begin to receive new zero-sort recycling carts, and zero-sort recycling pickups begin Oct. 17, according to an announcement from the city of Somerville.

With zero-sort recycling, residents will put all their recyclable goods—cans, plastic bottles, newspapers, cardboard, etc.—in one large recycling cart. Residents will no longer need to sort all their different items into separate bins.

The city is hosting a series of meetings to inform residents about these new recycling procedures.

Saturday Meetings

• Saturday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m.-noon, Cafeteria
• Saturday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m.-noon, Cafeteria
• Saturday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m.-noon, Cafeteria

Weeknight Meetings

• For Monday pickup: Monday, Sept. 12, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Cafeteria
• For Friday pickup: Tuesday, Sept. 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Cross Street Senior Center
• For Wednesday pickup: Wednesday, Sept. 14, 6:30-7:30 p.m.,
• For Thursday pickup: Thursday, Sept. 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m., library
• For Tuesday pickup: Tuesday, Sept. 20, 6:30-7:30 p.m.,  community lounge
