MA Senate Approves $1M+ For Somerville Road Projects

The state Senate passed a three-year $600 million investment of Chapter 90 funding for infrastructure repairs.

SOMERVILLE, MA – The Massachusetts senate passed a three-year, $600 million investment of Chapter 90 funding for local road and bridge repairs. Included in the funding was $1,158,434 for Somerville for FY19, according to Sen. Pat Jehlen's office.

"The Chapter 90 program plays a crucial role in funding sorely needed local road and bridge repairs across the Commonwealth," Jehlen said in a statement. "We need to do more to maintain and improve our infrastructure, but this is an important step."

The legislation authorizes $200 million each year for the next three years for infrastructure improvements across the state. The multi-year investment provides cities and towns with the ability to plan construction needs in advance by providing consistent funding.
