Man Allegedly Masturbates Facing Traffic on College Avenue

The man was arrested Tuesday evening.

A Somerville man was arrested Tuesday evening, Nov. 11, after he allegedly masturbated while on a College Avenue residence’s steps with his pants ā€œcompletely downā€ while facing traffic.

A driver called police at about 6 p.m. to report the incident, which allegedly took place outside Davis Square in Somerville between Summit and Kenwood streets on College Avenue.

Police soon located a man matching the suspect’s description, 52-year-old Alfred Smith, of 101 Highland Ave.

According to police, Smith first said he had urinated on a parked car. When an officer asked Smith to show him the area where he had urinated, Smith said urine doesn’t stay when you urinate against a house, according to police.

After the officer pointed out that Smith said he had urinated on a parked car, Smith allegedly said that he had urinated several times walking from Davis Square. He was unable to show the officer where, police said.

Smith was arrested and charged with open and gross lewdness.
