"The low plate lottery is our customers’ favorite annual event at the Registry," Registrar Erin Deveney said in a release. "After such an overwhelmingly positive response last year and an increase in applications, we are happy to continue to offer our customers a streamlined online application process for submissions. Our low plate lottery is just one example of improved and expanded online Registry options for our customers. We encourage all entrants to continue to skip the stamp and enter the lottery electronically at MassRMV.com."

There is no fee to apply for a low number plate. However, should the applicant be selected as a winner, there is a registration fee required. Low number plates must be renewed every two years.

The RMV will post updates about the drawing, date, time and location of the event on its website and @MassRMV Twitter page. Winners will be announced by September 15, and the names of winners will be posted to the RMV website.
