As part of an ongoing celebration of its 125th anniversary, Middlesex Federal Savings is donating 125 books to the Somerville Public Library. The Bank is continuing its local giving initiative with this most recent donation.

To help expand the selection of children’s books available at the Somerville Public Library, the majority of the books purchased will include titles for children preschool age through thirteen. “We are thrilled that Middlesex Federal has chosen us as a recipient of their anniversary giving initiative. This act demonstrates that the Bank recognizes and understands the importance of supporting reading,” said Glenn Ferdman, Director of Libraries for the City of Somerville.

According to Ferdman, in 2015, the library offered 300 children’s programs which serviced more than 8,300 children and caregivers. This included 69 summer programs for children preschool age up to 13. More than 1,800 children and caregivers participated.
