New Davis Square Traffic Pattern Starts Wednesday
The new pattern is designed to give pedestrians, cyclists and drivers more time to get through the main intersection.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A new traffic and pedestrian signal timing pattern launches Wednesday in Davis Square. The pattern is designed to increase safety and give pedestrians, cyclists and drivers more time to get through the main intersection, according to the city.
The new pattern begins Wednesday, June 27. Preparation and signal improvements will be made this Saturday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 27. On those dates, outages are planned to complete the work.
Traffic lights will be turned off Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Outages will likely result in some traffic backup, so drivers are asked to plan extra travel time or find an alternate route. A police detail will be on-site as well.
