New Somerville Restaurant: Japanese Chain Opens In Davis Square
The restaurant moved into the one-time home of Diva Indian Bistro, which closed in January after 20 years.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A Japanese restaurant chain just opened its newest location in Davis Square. Genki Ya moved into the one-time home of Diva Indian Bistro, which closed in January after 20 years on Elm Street, according to Eater. The Somerville restaurant is Genki Ya's fifth in Massachusetts.
The restaurant's menu includes maki rolls, nigiri, sashimi, soups, beef teriyaki, noodles and more, Eater reported. It also has a liquor license and offers bar seating.
Diva closed earlier this year amid little fanfare, save for a note on the front door thanking customers for 20 years of business. Ownership group One World Cuisine, which owns and operates Bukhara, Bao Nation, Mela, Dosa Factory Cambridge and Dosa Factory Boston, said it would move onto other ventures.
