Somerville Rubs Birthday Party in Charlestown's Face
The city's 175th birthday party is slated for March 29 on the Somerville-Charlestown line, and you're invited. Here's the details.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Hopefully Charlestown's let bygones be bygones after 175 years because it's getting a face full of freedom this month when Somerville celebrates its birthday right on our shared border.
The party begins at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in front of the Mount Vernon restaurant on East Broadway. The "very Somerville" celebration marks the city's separation from Charlestown in 1842 and features live music, a toast, refreshments, birthday cake and more.
Somerville's Aeronaut Brewing Company will unveil "Municipal Freedom Gives National Strength," a gluten-free beer named after the city's motto, at a reception in the back room Mount Vernon from 6 to 7 p.m. Celebratory glasses of Prospect Hill Bottling Company's Tower Root Beer, Cream Soda and Ginger Ale will be offered to toast Somerville's birthday. The homegrown company was founded in 1914.
