Obituary: Gerald 'Yellowturtle' Rockwood, of Somerville

Gerald A. (Jerry) “Yellowturtle” Rockwood, of Somerville, age 84, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Brown). Loving father of Mark Rockwood of Raymond, New Hampshire, Bruce Rockwood of Danville, New Hampshire, Kevin Rockwood of Boston and Susan Brown of Maine. Devoted brother of Jeannette Hixenbaugh of Florida, Lillian Garvey of Woburn, and the late Wilfred, Eugene and Eleanor Rockwood. Cherished grandfather of Mark, Jeffrey, Christopher, Allen, Andrew and Daniel Rockwood, Tim and Tyler Strong, Christian Scott and Christina Leonard and great grandfather to Jacob, Logan, Robert, TJ, Tyler Jr. and Bentley.

A funeral service procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Powder House Square, Somerville, Thursday morning at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in North Prospect Union Church, Medford, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Calling hours Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Late member of Aquidneck Island Intertribal Indian Council, late Scout Troop 4 Master of Boy Scouts of America, the Somerville Community Chorus and Counselor at Camp Evergreen.
