Obituary: Ulisse 'Louie' Rossi, 93, Former Owner of Louie's Barber Shop

SOMERVILLE, MA – ROSSI, Ulisse “Louie”- 93. A resident of Somerville for most of his life and who was born in Parma, Italy passed away at his home on March 11, 2017.

Former owner of Louie’s Barber Shop, Medford. Loving son of the late Sidonia and Mario Rossi. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Mili) Rossi.

Cherished father of Carol A. Mercauto and her fiancé James O’Connell both of Somerville. Dear Grandfather of the late Dana E. Mercauto.

Brother of Vicky and Joseph Colman, the late Jimmy Mili and his surviving wife Olga, the late Kay and Don Benton, Rita Mili, Rev. Jude Mili OFM, Tony and Audrey Mili, Rose Gartland and Joseph Gartland, Sr.

Louie is also survived by his godchildren, many nephews and nieces, friends, loyal customers, and extended family members in Italy.

Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville Monday at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Clement Church at 10:00 AM.

Louie was awarded the Key to the City of Medford in 2015 on his 90th birthday by the Honorable Mayor Michael McGlynn. He retired at age 92 following a 62 year career as owner and operator of Louie’s Barber Shop, Salem Street, Medford.
