Part Of Washington Street In Somerville To Close This Weekend
The road will be closed during the day for paving.

SOMERVILLE, MA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that Washington Street in the area of Beacon Street in Somerville will be closed to all vehicular and bicycle traffic on Saturday, June 30, from approximately 7:30 a.m., to 4:30 p.m. This one day roadway closure is necessary to allow crews to safely and effectively conduct paving operations.
Beacon Street will remain open to traffic at all times and vehicles and bicyclists on Washington Street will be directed to the following detour routes:
· Travelers heading southbound on Washington Street (from Union Square toward Cambridge) will be directed right onto Dane Street, then left onto Somerville Avenue, left onto Park Street, and finally onto Beacon Street.

· Travelers heading northbound on Kirkland Street (from Cambridge) will be directed left onto Holden Street, right on Scott Street, and finally onto Beacon St.
The pavement installed during this time will be an interim layer and final paving will take place in fall 2018. This work is part of the ongoing $11 million Beacon Street Reconstruction Project.

Signs, traffic control devices, and message boards will be used to guide travelers through the work zone. MassDOT encourages drivers to reduce speed and use caution, and allow for extra time throughout this area. All work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.
