Police Log: Five Drug Arrests | Alleged Brutal Attack Injures Woman’s Face

Somerville Police made 18 arrests this week, including five drug arrests, one of which involved an alleged assault where the accused attacker allegedly intentionally injured a female victim's face.

Eighteen arrests were made in Somerville last week (Mar. 1-7) including five drug arrests and one charge of mayhem, which is the malicious attempt to maim or disfigure, that allegedly resulted in facial injuries to a female victim.

MAYHEM, ASSAULT & BATTERY WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON and DRUG CHARGES: On Mar. 2, Jargle Soto, 25, of 1909 Columbus Ave., Roxbury, was arrested at 400 Somerville Ave. at 11:21 a.m. and charged with various crimes including mayhem, which Massachusetts state law defines as "the malicious intent to maim or disfigure.”  The crime carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in state prison.

The report for this incident has not been released, but Somerville Police Sgt. David Monte confirmed that "Mr. Soto was arrested after a Somerville Police Detective unit investigation. He was arrested in connection with a serious assault and battery with a weapon on Summer St. The suspect and victim are known to each other. The female victim, 41 years old, sustained facial injury.”

According to the arrest log, Soto was also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a drug violation near a school or a park, threatening to commit a crime, distribution of a Class A drug, carrying a dangerous weapon, assault and battery to collect a loan, and larceny from a person. [Note: Class A drugs include heroin, other opiates, and some designer drugs.]

WARRANT CHARGES: On Mar. 1, Christine Turilli, 26, of 7 Reeds Ct., was arrested at home at 12:36 p.m. on warrant charges for receiving a stolen motor vehicle, assault and battery, larceny under $250, larceny over $250 and vehicle larceny.

MARIJUANA POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: On Mar. 1, Alberto Brito, 29, of 30 Newtowne Ct., Cambridge, was arrested at 14 Gov. Winthrop Road at 2:57 p.m. and charged with a drug violation near a school or a park, drug possession with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, felony breaking and entering and warrant charges for motor vehicle violations.

BREAKING & ENTERING: On Mar. 1, Devin Mack, 26, no given address, was arrested at 1044 Broadway at 5:45 p.m. and charged with felony breaking and entering. Outstanding warrant charges also included violation of a municipal ordinance, trespassing and uttering a false prescription.

WARRANT for UNLICENSED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: On Mar. 1, Paulo Brito, 28, no given address, was arrested at 220 Washington St. at 7:33 p.m. on warrant charges for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

COCAINE TRAFFICKING: On Mar. 1, Kevin Lowe, 35, of 225 Danna Ave., Hyde Park, was arrested at 23 Cummings St. at 7:58 p.m. and charged with cocaine trafficking, resisting arrest and operating a motor vehicle with license revoked as a habitual traffic offender.

WARRANT CHARGES for BREAKING & ENTERING: On Mar. 1, Daneita Howard, 24, no given address, was arrested on Broadway at 9:45 p.m. on warrant charges for felony breaking and entering.

WARRANT CHARGES for SHOPLIFTING: On Mar. 3, Bruce Perez, 24, of 12 Harvard Ave., Medford, was arrested on College Ave. at 1:55 p.m. on warrant charges for shoplifting and furnishing a false name and social security number.

COCAINE CHARGES: On Mar. 3, Raymond Noiles, 29, of 9 Gannett St., Roxbury, MA, was arrested at 138 Summer St. at 3:10 p.m. and charged with conspiracy to violate drug law, a drug violation near a school or a park and distribution of a Class B drug (cocaine).

COCAINE CHARGES: On Mar. 3, Charles Kaveney, 34, of 137 Summer St., was arrested at home at 3:10 p.m. and charged with conspiracy to violate drug law and possession of a class B (cocaine).

UNLICENSED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: On Mar. 4, Arlindo DaSilva-Filho, 47, of 111 Tremont St., Cambridge, was arrested on Prospect St. at 7:52 p.m. and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield or stop.

WARRANT CHARGES for UNLICENSED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: On Mar. 4, Wilfredo Rodriguez, 28, of 198 Highland Ave., Boston, was arrested at 486 Columbia St. at 12:55 p.m. on warrant charges for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. A courtesy booking for another department in connection with the arrest of Michael Block was also made.

INSURANCE FRAUD and MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Mar. 4, Michael Block, 38, of 24 Border Road, Natick, was arrested at 486 Columbia St. at 12:55 p.m. and charged with insurance fraud, malicious destruction of property, forgery and larceny.

ASSAULT & BATTERY: On Mar. 4, Edgar Salazar, 24, of 104 Pearl St. was arrested at home at 10:35 p.m. and charged with assault and battery.

ASSAULT & BATTERY: On Mar. 4, Jonathan McElroy, 31, of 44 Irving St. was arrested at home at 1:57 a.m. and charged with assault and battery and witness intimidation. He was also booked on warrant charges for assault and battery and violation of a restraining order.

OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE: On Mar. 6, Charles Cormier, 58, of 15 Lake Shore Dr., Westford, was arrested on College Ave. at 2:25 a.m. and charged with operating under the influence.

OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENCSE: On Mar. 6, Harjinder Singh, 27, of 10 Webster St. was arrested on Joy St. at 10:14 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

ASSAULT & BATTERY WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON: On Mar. 7, Donna Owens, 49, of 49 Marshall St. was arrested at home at 12:24 a.m. and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
