Popular Somerville BBQ Joint Damaged In Fire: Report

A small fire broke out in a vent at Redbones Tuesday.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A popular Davis Square barbecue joint caught fire Tuesday morning, resulting in some damages. But rest assured Redbones fans – they are not expected to be too serious.

No one was injured in the blaze at the Chester Street eatery, which started around 9:30 a.m. in the vent above a grease fryer, according to the Boston Globe.

The fire lasted for a little over an hour and was contained at 10:40 a.m. Somerville Fire Chief Patrick Sullivan told the Globe that preliminary estimates indicate the would be "limited."

Redbones first opened in Davis Square in 1987 and has become a favorite among barbecue and Southern-style food fans in Somerville.
