Liars is slated to open in Teele Square.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A new restaurant from the team behind one of Somerville's most acclaimed neighborhood wine bars is preparing to open in Teele Square.

Liars Restaurant will open at 1153 Broadway in the former True Bistro space, marking the first expansion for the team behind Spoke Wine Bar in nearby Davis Square. While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the restaurant has begun sharing updates on social media as it prepares to welcome its first customers.

The restaurant describes itself on Instagram as the "bigger baby sister" to Spoke Wine Bar, offering a first look at the new space while teasing more details to come. The team has not yet released a full menu or opening timeline but has encouraged diners to follow along as the project nears completion.

Liars is the latest venture from the team behind Spoke Wine Bar, which first opened in Davis Square in 2013. Founded by Felisha Foster, the restaurant quickly became known for its seasonally inspired small American plates and carefully curated wine program featuring more than 60 bottle selections.

After Foster was diagnosed with ALS in 2016, longtime employee Mary Kurth purchased the business, allowing Spoke to continue operating. Foster died the following year, and the restaurant has continued to earn acclaim under Kurth's ownership.

Earlier this year, Spoke was named a semifinalist for the 2026 James Beard Awards in the Outstanding Bar category. Often referred to as the "Oscars of food," the annual awards recognize excellence across the culinary industry and have honored some of the country's top chefs, restaurants, and beverage programs.

Liars will occupy the former home of True Bistro, the longtime vegan restaurant that served Teele Square before closing. Additional details about the restaurant's menu, hours, and opening date have yet to be announced.
