Development Proposed At Site Of Somerville Music Club

Developers will hold a public meeting about their plans for the site, which has housed several music and dance clubs over the years.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A local music club could be in jeopardy, as a new development has been proposed at the site. A public meeting will take place Sept. 25 to discuss the future of 379 Somerville Ave., the location of Thunder Road in Union Square.

The developers will present their plans and hear feedback at the meeting, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Somerville police station, 220 Washington St.

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, a Thunder Road employee wrote on Facebook that the club remains open, though the post appears to have been deleted. Plans call for a five-story mixed-use building with 12 apartments and a bar or restaurant on the first floor. It is unclear if developers have reached an agreement with Thunder Road, according to Ward 3 Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen.
